Since 2017, EDSN has been generously supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The project aims to create a network of prominent scholars, practitioners and other policy professionals who share an interest in the application of the concept of democratic security in the Eurasian region.
This has never been so relevant as Russian troops threaten both the security and democratic development of Ukraine and other countries in the region.
Every year, a cohort of EDSN fellows is selected and receive a modest stipend to engage in research, discussion, and analysis of the Eurasian region through the lens of democratic security. In earlier years, fellows met at a physical conference in Tbilisi, but since the pandemic the fellowship has transitioned to being online, predominantly through a series of discussion meetings – though we encourage fellows to collaborate and meet offline if opportunities arise.
Over time, EDSN has grown into a vibrant network of fellows and alumni that encompass the entire region. Alumni include academics, diplomats, political figures, civil society activists and policy analysts, amongst others.
If you are interested in becoming an EDSN fellow for the 2023 cohort, please contact our administrative officer, Diana Lezhava at d.lezhava@demsecinstitute.org , for more information.
