Gela Merabishvili is an associated researcher at CSS (Tbilisi) and a post-doctoral researcher at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest). He specializes in the political geography of territorial conflicts, nationalism and borders, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region. He holds a PhD degree in Planning, Governance and Globalization (Virginia Tech, 2020) and two Master’s Degrees in the EU foreign affairs (Maastricht University, 2012) and regional politics in the Caucasus (Tbilisi State University, 2013). Between 2014 and 2016, he worked as a researcher on the EU Neighborhood Policy in the Caucasus region at the Centre for European Policy Studies and at the European Stability Initiative (both in Brussels).
