Teona Surmava works at the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Her focus at the Ministry includes European integration and police reform with the emphasis on a community-oriented policing approach. She is also a lecturer in nationalism studies at East European University in Tbilisi. Ms. Surmava is currently a Leadership Lab Fellow at the German Marshall Fund (GMF) and in 2017 participated in Professional Fellows Program (PFP), sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
Ms. Surmava holds an M.A. in Nationalism Studies from Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) and a B.A. in International Relations from Tbilisi State University (Tbilisi, Georgia).
